Gabriel

Gabriel Salazar Vergara was born on the 31st of January, 1936. He is Chilean historical research. He is most well-known for his work on social history and the understanding of the social movements. It is evident in recent student protests in 2006 and in 2011. Salazar was raised in an income-constrained family. He pursued studies in the fields of sociology, history, and philosophy at Universidad de Chile. He was also assistant to Mario Gongora, a classical historian, and Hector Herrera Cajas, a historian. 1. Salazar used to be associated with the Revolutionary Left Movement until 1973. His military would torture him in Villa Grimaldi during that year. After his release from the prison camp for military He fled to England. He was granted a scholarship to continue his studies at Hull University. University of Hull. In the same university, he was awarded the PhD diploma within Economic and Social History in 1984. Salazar returned to Chile the following year. Salazar was able to make a breakthrough 1985. The year 1985 is relatively inaccessible. He studied peons in addition to laborers and proletarians. Salazar was one of the founding members of Nueva Historia Social, a historical movement. Salazar considers history as an important tool for political action.
